On July 13th 2022, representatives of the Training Command and Application School of the Army from Turin , Italy, COL Michele Strippoli, LTC Enrico Spinello and MAJ Walter Spagnuolo visited Armed Forces Academny of gen. M. R. Stefanik in Liptovsky Mikulas.

The aim of the visit was to outline possible cooperation, especially within the framework of the ERASMUS+ program under the auspices of the EMILYO initiative, and to identify common methods, ways and goals in the educational and training activities of both institutions.

The delegation was welcomed by the Vice-rector for Education, COL Aurel Sabó, PhD. and the Chairman of the Academic Senate, MAJ Jaroslav Kompan, PhD.

In the opening presentation, the guests were introduced to the structure, mission and main tasks of the AFA as the only military university in the Slovak Republic providing higher education to future officers of the Slovak Armed Forces. This was followed by a tour of the AFA Simulation Center with a practical demonstration of activities on a shooting simulator, an air traffic control simulator and in a constructive and virtual simulation environment.

In the afternoon, part of the Italian delegation took part in a meeting at the Department of Military Tactics and Operational Art of the AFA.  MAJ Jaroslav Kompan, PhD. introduced the department to those present, and then there was a discussion about the possible involvement in various joint educational modules for the ground forces within the international semester for the ground forces.

Meanwhile, the second part of the delegation got acquainted with the disciplines and conditions of the international ALLROUNDER competition. MJR Spagnuolo visited the venues of the individual disciplines, such as the AFA sports ground, the water slalom area, the water reservoir in Bobrovec and the start and finish place for the cross-country run in Ilanovo/Plostin. In September, the team from Turin plans to participate in the Allrounder competition for the first time.
