On October 19th – 20th, 2023, the 14th international scientific conference entitled "National and International Security 2023" was held in Liptovsky Jan.
The main organizer of the conference was the Department of Security and Defense of the Armed Forces Academy of GEN. M. R. Stefanik (AFA). The conference was opened by the Head of the Department, Professor Vojtech Jurcak. Vice-rector for Science, Assoc. prof. Boris Ďurkech, represented the lead of AFA.
The conference was attended by experts from the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, China and Slovakia from military and civilian universities, scientific and educational workplaces dealing with security and defense issues. Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic also sent representatives.
Following thematic areas were discussed during the meeting:
International relations
National security
Security science
Use of armed forces
Security science - conspiracy theories
Conspiracy theories, hoaxes and cyber security
A total of 18 papers were presented during the conference. Each was followed by a lively discussion which demonstrated that the topics are very actual and need further exploration. "The aim of the conference was to assess the state of development of national and international security and to identify new aspects of its direction", said Professor Vojtech Jurcak and added that the intention of the conference was also to exchange experience and obtain new topics for further scientific work in this area.
Next iteration of the conference will be held on October 17th – 18th, 2024.
