The department provides and implements the teaching of all subjects in the field of mathematics, informatics, information and cyber security, information and communication technologies for accredited study programs of bachelor's, engineering and doctoral studies in the field of "Military communication and information systems".

In basic as well as applied research, he solves departmental and non-departmental research tasks in the field of mathematics (quantum structures), information and communication technologies, cyber security:

• Mathematical models of quantum structures and uncertainty;

• Fuzzy structures with ordering and difference;

• Partial dynamic reconfiguration of CS in military applications;

• Computer languages in command and control;

• Monitoring, detection, identification and analysis of cyber security threats with LAVIBO tools.

In the field of education as well as research, the department actively cooperates with universities at home, but also abroad within the EU. In the field of international activities and tasks for the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic, the Department of Informatics is involved in solving scientific and professional problems in the STO NATO panels.

It is the leader of education in the field of computer networks and technologies for the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic (CNAP, regional and local CISCO network academy), in the field of cyber security (Palo Alto Networks Cybersecurity Academy) and NEC (Network Enable Capability), Microsoft Office products.
