On July 11th - 15th , 2022, LTC Jozef Kuchta - Chief of the International Courses Department of the Armed Forces Academy (AFA) participated in training in the field of planning operations at the operational level according to NATO standards under the direction of the National Defense University (NDU) in Bucharest. He took this opportunity as part of the ERASMUS+ program.
The training included the Comprehensive Operational Level Planning Course, whose guarantors were representatives of the crisis management and international operations department Iova Titel and deputy commander Dobocan Claudiu. The course was attended by 40 officers in the rank of captain to colonel from Romania, Bulgaria, Portugal, Italy and Slovakia.
The aim of the training was to examine the possibilities of updating the usual procedures for planning operations at the operational level of the command and to check the possibilities of further cooperation in the preparation and implementation of operational and tactical planning courses.
The plan for future cooperation between AFA and NDU would include the exchange of experts for ISOC and IPJO courses, which is provided by the International Courses Department of AFA. At the same time, experts from NDU promised help in the creation and certification of the new Comprehensive Operational Planning Course (COPC), as well as joint consultations before the reaccreditation of the academy as a NATO educational institution in 2024.
