NATO certified course - Tactical Planning for Land Forces (TPLF), took place at International Courses Department of the Armed Forces Academy of GEN M. R. Stefanik in Liptovsky Mikulas from 5th till 16th of May 2025. The course focuses on planning operations at the tactical command level, with a specific emphasis on the activities of the staff at the brigade – battalion level.
By now the third consecutive year, the course was requested by Hungarian University of Public Service as an integral part of their master's degree for officers. The course was attended by 14 members of the Hungarian Armed Forces, along with 13 officers of the Slovak Armed Forces and other participants from partner countries, including Armenia, Georgia, Iraq and Ukraine. Their participation was made possible thanks to the support of the NATO SHAPE PD (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, Partnership Directorate) program.
During the course, the participants were introduced to the principles of land force planning at the tactical command level in accordance with the NATO doctrinal document APP-28 (Tactical Planning for Land Forces), with special attention paid to staff procedures, processing of planning products and the correct use of English military terminology.
The course concluded on May 16th, 2025, with a knowledge quiz and handing over the certificates to participants who successfully completed the final practical exercises and presentations of the resulting planning products.
Feedback from the course graduates confirmed the high professional level of teaching, professionalism of the instructors, as well as friendly approach and hospitality of the support staff of the International Courses Department. The participants not only gained new expert knowledge from the course, but also international relationships and unforgettable experiences.
