Armed Forces Academy of Gen. M. R. Stefanik (AFA) as PTEC (Partnership Training and Education Center) and NATO accredited educational and training facility (ETF), provides certified courses for NATO and Partners. As it is currently undergoing the process of preparations for re-accreditation, it is necessary to update complete documentation in accordance with NATO standards. This is primarily documentation related to Quality Assurance in accordance with the long-term plan, as well as training and education documentation in accordance with Bi-SC 075-007 and Bi-SC 075-002.
Education and training of the officers from NATO and Partners is primarily provided by the International Courses Department (ICD), which is part of Professional Military Education Center (PMEC) of the Academy. As certain changes have occurred since the initial accreditation in 2018, especially in terms of personnel, there was a need to train additional people in order to successfully handle this complex process. Based on the stated facts, the new head of ICD, LTC René Hečko, took part at NATO Quality Assurance (QA) course at end of January 2023. Participation at Nato School Oberammergau (NSO) courses helps AFA to meet the requirements for successful completion of the reaccreditation process, in which it is necessary to declare compliance with 31 NATO Quality Standards.
The goal of the mentioned course at the NSO is to synchronize and summarize NATO requirements and procedures for assessing the quality of an ETFs, as well as to acquaint the course participants with the latest knowledge in processing the documents needed to carry out the accreditation process for NATO educational and training facilities. The graduates of the course had an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the latest knowledge and experience from the accreditation process of individual centers that took place last year and to discuss with the members of the accreditation commission, which will come to on-side visit to AFA in November.
