The Armed Forces Academy of General Milan Rastislav Štefánik (SVK AFA), as a NATO-accredited educational institution, once again took an active part in international cooperation on quality assurance in education and individual training. The NATO Quality Assurance Forum (QAF) was held in Bratislava on 13 and 14 October 2026. SVK AFA was represented by Lieutenant Colonel René HEČKO and Ms Zuzana FREISSL of the International Courses Department. The event was hosted by the NATO Explosive Ordnance Disposal Centre of Excellence (EOD COE), based in Trenčín.
The main aim of the QAF is to promote cooperation and the exchange of experience between education and training facilities participating in the NATO Quality Assurance Programme, institutions seeking to join the programme, and Allied Command Transformation (ACT). The Forum provides an opportunity to share good practice, insights and experience in quality assurance for education and training. It also contributes to the development of a common approach to NATO QA.
The programme also included thematic working sessions in syndicates. During these sessions, participants had the opportunity to try out different approaches to updating NATO certified courses, using both traditional methods and artificial intelligence.
The QAF provides an opportunity to follow developments in the NATO QA Programme, exchange experience with partner institutions and apply the insights gained to the further development of the courses quality assurance system at SVK AFA.
